What is in my Shante scrub and which one do I choose?
Each scrub has the same base of sugar, cocoa& shea butter, with slightly different carrier oils and additional ingredients.
Each scrub can be used by all skin types, however there are additional benefits based on added ingredients. Sometimes it’s best to stick with your skin type – or your nose for that matter, and choose which scent you like best!

How to use a Shantae scrub?
Take a Shantae scrub with you in the shower and put a generous scoop on wet and clean skin. Gently massage scrub in circular motions over your entire body, focusing especially on problem body areas. Leave on for 2-3 minutes to get the best effect and then rinse. For soft and smooth skin ,use 3x per week, or whenever you like

Can I use Shantae scrub on my face and body?
Yes, the Shantae range is suitable for the entire body as well as your face.
However especially for body, we recommend the coffee scrub which has finer ground coffee beans and is granular in texture.

Since Shantae scrubs contains oil, does not it clog my pores?
Shantae scrub contains carefully selected ingredients that nourish the skin without clogging pores and leave it soft and silky to touch. Combined with coconut oil, it creates a film on the skin, through which the skin can breathe.

I have sensitive skin, should I be using a scrub?
All Shantae face and body scrubs contain quality, natural and carefully selected ingredients, therefore they are suitable for all skin types, including fine, sensitive or even children. They contain no artificial fragrances, colourants, preservatives, parabens or other added synthetic chemicals. Before using for the first time, we recommend do a small patch test on a little part of your body.

How do I store my Shantae products?
It’s simple!
We suggest storing it in a cool, dry place in between showers. No dipping wet fingers into it!
Over time the oil will tend to float up, not to worry, give it a quick stir and you’re good to go!

How often should I use my scrub?
This really depends on your skin type and the climate. And also whether you’re trying to help a specific skin condition, or if you’re just looking for a little tough love (exfoliation).
Many Shantae lovers use our scrubs thrice a week, to keep their skin feeling soft and supple.
For best results we suggest scrubbing 3-4 times per week, ongoing. Use of twice a week for people with sensitive skin.

What is the shelf life of my scrub?
All of Shante’s scrubs have a shelf life of 6 months once opened.
Just remember to keep them stored in a cool, dry place!

Why are the clay cleansing cubes called a 3 in 1 product?
Each of our Clay Cleansing Cubes is crafted with a goats milk soap base component and clay that will create a “mask-like” effect when activated by water and lathering. The fine sugar infused in the formulation is a natural exfoliator and humectant. These tiny cubes are a triple treat! You get a three in one- Cleanse, Exfoliate, and Rejuvenating Mask in one step!

Is it like soap?
The formulation does have goats milk soap as a component but it is much more than a soap. The clay in the formulation becomes a mask on lather and the sugar gently exfoliates.

How do I use a clay cleansing cube?
Grab a cube, and wet it with a little bit of water. Once wet, gently rub the cube in circular motion on wet face and neck till a thin mask like layer forms. You can leave it on for as long as three (3) minutes or as long as it takes to soap your body before rinsing it off. Pat dry and follow with a light moisturizer if need be.

Which variant is for which skin type?

How do I store my clay cleansing cube?
Store the cubes in its original container. Once used, please do not put back into jar. Each cubes can be used 2-3 times. Leave the used cube on a soap tray or separate container.

What is the shelf life of my Shantae lip balm?
Our lip balm stored in moderate temperature will last for a year. We do not use chemical stabilizers. Extreme temperatures such as freezing and high humidity can affect a balm’s consistency and aroma.

The balm looks slightly different from the last one I purchased. Why?
This balm is formulated with natural ingredients. Variations in color from one batch to another can be expected. Temperature fluctuations can also subtly impact natural ingredients and essential oils. Please know all of these changes are perfectly normal and expected when crafting with natural ingredients.

How do I ensure my lip balm stays fresh?
Simply keep the lid on the jar tightly shut. Ensure the balm isn’t exposed to extreme temperature fluctuations. Please keep it out of direct sunlight. Typical room temperature is always the best!

What makes lip care different from skin care?
Lip Skin does not have the same protective outer layer found in other type of skin. The outer layer of the lip is extremely thin or even completely absent in most people. As a result, moisture evaporates from the lips much faster than from ordinary skin causing lips to dry out easily. This dryness frequently results in chapping and cracking especially during the cold.

Can lip balm be worn under lipstick?
Lip balm works well when worn under lipstick, which allows protective ingredients to be in direct contact with the lips. Using a moisturizing lip balm before lipstick application will help color go on more evenly.

How often should I reapply?
The frequency depends on your activity levels like eating or drinking. Reapply as necessary all day & year through.

Can I use Shantae’s Body Butter on my sensitive skin?
Shantae’s Body Butter’s natural ingredients do respond well to most skin types. While our products have been used by people with sensitive skin conditions, essential oils may cause irritation in some individuals. If your skin is particularly sensitive, we recommend that you test a small patch before applying liberally. Discontinue use if irritation develops.

Where should I keep my body butter?
Shantae’s Body Butter should be stored in a dry, cool area and away from direct sunlight. This will maintain the integrity of the ingredients and avoid product separation.

Why do you use a glass jar?
We are a 100% plastic free brand. Our glass jar also protects the various oils that may alter their delicate composition if stored in a plastic jar. Plus, it’s a great size to recycle/upcycle!

Will my body butter expire?
It is generally recommended that it is used within 12 months of opening for best product quality.

Will Shantae’s Body Butter leave my skin feeling greasy?
Body butter is definitely more emollient and has a heavier texture than a lotion does, but after a few minutes it will penetrate the skin and lose any greasy feel. It is crafted with ingredients specifically chosen to hydrate the skin and leave it with a silky, not greasy, after feel.

Can I use Shantae’s Body Butter on my face?
Body Butter is not recommended on your face due to its high emollient composition.

My body butter melted; can I still use it?
Please store your body butter in a cool area. During summer months, the butter may melt in transit. If this happens, simply place the jar in the refrigerator until it stiffens. The body butter will retain all of its properties.

Why are there slight variations in my products, or slight imperfections?
It’s the blessing of the handmade — it’s never exactly the same! We promise that any slight variations or imperfections are cosmetic only and do not affect the function of the product. We think of it as, you know it was made by a person and not a machine.

What is body yogurt?
Body yogurt is a moisturizer that rapidly absorbs into your skin and provides hydration. In fact, it only takes a few seconds to absorb into the skin and give you a healthy and glowing look.

When should I apply body yogurt?
Both body yogurt and body butter are two skin care products that help you to moisturize and hydrate your body. When applied over damp skin straight after a shower, it instantly makes your skin feels smoother, softer and suppler

Where can I use body yogurt?
Our Body Yogurts can be applied straight onto damp skin and all over your body. Be sure to give some extra love to those neglected areas like knees and elbows!

Can you use body yogurt on face?
If you’re in a pinch and you don’t have a better option, you certainly can use body yogurt on your face — but it’s not recommended, especially if you have oily skin or are prone to acne.
The skin on our body and face need to be treated differently.

Is body yogurt good for oily skin?
Body yogurts are lightweight. They do not feel overwhelming or sticky on the skin due to their gel-like surface. Body yogurt rapidly gets ingested and doesn’t make your skin feel overwhelming. So it’s the ideal solution for oily skin.

What is the difference between body yogurt and body butter?
The biggest difference between body yogurt and body butter is texture: The former tends to have a higher water content and more liquid consistency, while the latter is usually thicker and creamier (like, well, butter).

Body butter lasts longer than body yogurt It can moisturize the skin deeply and maximize hydration, so it is perfect for people who have extremely dry skin. Moreover, it is perfect for moisturizing the skin during winter. Body yogurt is formulated with mostly water and a little bit of oil, making it a suitable option for almost any skin type and can be used all year through.

Can we use body yogurt in winter?
Body yogurt offers a great way to keep your skin hydrated throughout the harsh winter months. To use, apply body yogurt generously two times a day, preferably after shower, because it works best on wet skin.

If however, you have extremely dry skin, we would highly recommend our range of Body Butters for that extra-long lasting hydration!

Is the facial powder cleanser a substitute for face wash?
Yes! This powder to foam face cleanser is created in powder form. Once you activated it with water, it transforms into a mild gently foaming face wash.

Can I use it daily?
Our cleanser can be used daily as it is made of velvety soft kaolin clays, nourishing apricot kernel oil and gently exfoliating apricot powder. It is a soap free and chemical free formulation which is mild enough to be used daily.

How much water should I use to activate the powder?
Use the spoon provided to scoop the product, add a few drops of water, rub between your palms to create the foam. Add a bit more water if you feel the paste is too thick.

Besides water, what else I can mix the cleanser powder with?
We recommend using rose water for oily & sensitive skin. You can also use milk if you have dry skin.

What is a face moisturizer?
A face moisturizer is a lotion, or cream emulsion, ointment or balm formulated with emollients that help skin stay hydrated. Moisturizers hydrate the surface layers of the skin. Their main skin benefit is that they seal the skin, locking in moisture and nutrients, while protecting the skin from environmental irritants.

Why is it important to use a moisturizer?
Using a good moisturizer can help prevent and treat dry skin, it can also protect sensitive skin and improve the texture of your skin. Using a moisturizer daily can improve the skin’s hydrating and make your skin healthy and glowing.

How to moisturize?
Moisturizers should be applied to clean skin after you cleanse your face, as they prevent skin from drying out post-wash. They’re also most effective when applied to slightly damp skin, as they seal in moisture.

When should you moisturize your face?
You should moisturize your face daily after cleansing. Apply it in the morning after cleansing it and then before retiring to bed at night. People usually feel the need to moisturize the skin only during the winter season, but your skin needs moisturization throughout the year.

Do you need to moisturize oily skin?
Yes, you need to moisturize your skin even if you have oily skin. Moisturizer is used to improve your skin’s texture and to hydrate your skin. If you have oily skin, you can use it at night to avoid greasy and shiny looking skin.

What does a foot cream do?
A foot cream is a specially formulated cream solution that targets the rough and dehydrated feet and keeps them soft. Foot cream heals calluses and keeps your feet moisturised and supple

How often should you use foot cream?
You should use foot cream every day. You can apply it after a shower and once before you go to bed.

How can I moisturise my feet overnight?
Apply a good foot cream before you sleep and wear a pair of soft socks to moisturise your feet overnight.
What home remedy can I use to soften my feet?
You can soften your feet by soaking it in water for a few minutes, using a foot scrub to remove dead skin and applying a nourishing cream on your feet. A monthly pedicure would also help.

What is the way to apply the foot cream for maximum benefit?
Think of foot cream as a moisturiser. You won’t apply your moisturiser without cleaning your face, would you? In the same way, it is really important to clean your feet before applying foot cream. Use a gentle body wash and thoroughly massage your feet to get rid of all the dust and dirt.

Cracked heels are nothing but an accumulation of dead skin cells, and therefore it is really important to exfoliate your feet at least twice a week. You can either use a foot scrub recipes or simply use a pumice stone to buff away all that dead skin.

Why should I use an under-eye balm?
The skin around your eyes is thinner and more sensitive than other areas. Your eye area is prone to puffiness, dryness, fine lines, and dark circles. To combat these issues, try using an eye cream or balm to soothe and hydrate your eye area. 

Should I apply the eye balm at morning or night or both times?
Try to integrate the eye cream or balm as part of your beauty routine. Apply it once a day and as needed so you can start to see improvements in your eye area. Put it on in the morning before you start your day. Or, apply it at night before bed so the ingredients can be absorbed into your skin while you sleep. Ideal time would be night time on cleansed skin.

What is the correct way to apply the eye balm?
To apply the eye balm, begin by applying small dabs under your eye. Use a clean finger to press down lightly on the balm and apply it in gentle taps. Work from the inside of your eye to the outside of your eye.

Why is the texture of my eye balm grainy?
The balm contains no water or preservatives, it is made purely from nourishing butter and oils. As oils tend to have texture, it creates naturally grainy texture, which creates massaging properties and promotes circulation flow. As balm is rubbed into the skin, the grain dissolves and absorbs into the skin.

Can a hair mask be used as a conditioner?
Hair masks can be used instead of conditioners if your hair needs a deep conditioning treatment. However, hair masks should not replace conditioners as they tend to be quite thick and can clog your hair follicles if used excessively.

How often should you use hair masks?
How often you should use hair masks depends on the health of your hair and the specific product recommendations. As a general rule of thumb, once a week is sufficient. However, everyone’s hair responds differently so begin with once a week and increase or decrease frequency as needed.

Which hair mask is good for hair fall?
When selecting a hair mask to protect your hair from falling out, look for ones containing protein-rich formulas such as biotin, and keratin or hair oils such as argan or coconut oil as they help fortify hair strands and reduce breakage.

Can you leave a hair mask in overnight?
It depends! Some hair masks are designed for overnight use, however, if your hair is fine or thin it might cause product buildup on the hair follicles, leading to your hair becoming weighed down. The best practice is to follow the instructions of the manufacturer to ensure you are getting the best results from it.

Is it okay to use a hair mask every day?
Unfortunately not, using a hair mask every day can lead to product buildup and have your hair look weighed down. If you are struggling with dry hair, try a lightweight hair oil instead and stop using sulphate-based products as they can be drying and lead to your hair looking lacklustre.
